Port Phillip Bay's passenger ferry between Geelong and Melbourne's Docklands, the slow and scenic alternative to the train.
Victoria's first page here is a bay crossing rather than a river or island run. The boat between Geelong and Docklands is run by Port Phillip Ferries and crosses Port Phillip with a compulsory stop at Portarlington, so every sailing on the current timetable takes the long way. It does not replace the V/Line train, which is quicker and takes myki; the ferry does not accept myki, and is chosen for the water rather than the clock.
What makes it worth a page is how easily it catches people out. It sails once a day in each direction, mostly at weekends and on public holidays, reaching into weekdays only during school holidays, and the fare shown on the route page grows at checkout because a fuel levy is added separately.
